To Those Whom I Love and Those Who Love Me

When I am gone, release me, let me go
I have so many things to see and do
You must not tie yourself to me with tears
Be happy that I have had so many years

I gave you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave me in happiness
I thank you for the love each have shown
But now it is time I traveled on alone

So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust
It is only for a while that we must part
So bless the memories in your heart

I will not be far away, for life goes on
So if you need me, call and I will come
Though you can not see or touch me, I will be near
And if you listen with your heart, you will hear

All of my love around you soft and clear
Then, when you must come this way alone
I will greet you with a smile and a
"Welcome Home"

Diana's quartz

I finally got the day right. It's indeed Saturday and I couldn't wait to take these babies out so that they can be made ready worn. I couldn't quite decide if they're pink chalcedony or rose quartz at first but the owner said that they are high quality faceted rose quartz. I love them as they have the gentlest of pinks in them. Hangforged wires and oxidized.

What day is today?

Have you had weeks where you're living it but you're not quite in it? Tonight I was waiting for Heros to come on and then realized that it's Thursday NOT Monday. And at the office earlier today, I was looking at Friday's schedule and got my times all mixed up which meant having lunch and then realizing that I had to be somewhere else which meant swallowing food at a rapid pace. Not good. Tuesday became Wednesday and Thursday became Friday this week. I have no idea what's happening to me and for a fleeting moment, I thought perhaps I was going to develop Hiro Nakamura's powers of manipulating space and time. It's not happening yet. This Moop bag has nothing to do anything I've just said except that I WANT IT WANT IT WANT IT!

Good luck charm

I was walking past Toa Payoh interchange and saw these little encased 4 leaf clovers. I'm sure you've seen them. They're made into pendents and earrings and I think it's a delicate process getting the little clovers into the glass. I've always been curious about the 4 leaf clover. Did you know that each leaf symbolized faith, hope, love and luck? It's also an unusual occurance to find them hence if you do come across one, it's believed that something really good will happen to you in a little while. Using 21 gauge sterling silver wires, I decided to make little clovers entwined together. To give it an antique look, I decided to oxidize them and then gingerly polish them. You'll find the oxidized pair in etsy.

I had some time this morning to play around with the camera and decided to shoot a pair I made to go with what I was wearing today. A simple pair with a loose cluster of baby pearls all in sterling silver and handforged wires. When mom visits and sees my table with all my beads, she shakes her head. Then she asks when I'm going to be done with my 'project and why am I buying more beads when I have so many already. And each time, I will burst into laughter. Trust my mom to say something like that. She probably can't stand the mess on my desk. It used to be just some books standing neatly and now it's almost like a small storage place. If she could have it her way, she'd probably make necklaces and give them all away, just to get rid of my 'mess'. haha

Cilla's wedding

November seems to be a month of weddings or couples preparing for weddings next year. There's the decision on where it's going to be held, the choice of wedding gowns, photographer, hotel bookings for dinners and oh wait, before this, it'll be how the proposal is going to be and the chosen ring! Such a far cry from my parents' wedding where the dinner was held at the backyard of their house. Either way, there is a certain amount of stress, as all changes in life, will bring. It's true what they say about the wedding being a day and the marriage a lifetime. Like the wedding day, expect that marriage will bring unexpected changes, its share of hiccups and throwups, even though we start, or so we think, with the 'right' footing, and do all we can to make the journey a smooth one. But then life happens. And that's not always a bad thing, for where there is chaos, there is opportunity for growth (and creativity).

Ok, I will now stop rambling- only because this pair was created to go with a beautiful light gold chiffon wedding dress n on an even more gorgeous bride. It comprises of a faceted smoky quartz topped with matching coloured fresh water pearls dangling off hoops handforged by me. All parts are in sterling silver.

Old Wives' tales

The other day, a couple of us got together and started talking about what our mothers and grandmothers used to, or still tell us, about things we should or shouldn't do coz it may result in unpleasant consequences. See if these are familiar. Myth of facts? You decide. Being a person who thrives on logical explanations for how things work in the world, I've avoided falling into these 'traps' merely to show a sign of respect for my elders.

1. Don't sleep with wet hair or else air will get into your brain.
2. If you swallow a fish bone by mistake, take your plate and put it above your head and use a spoon to hit the plate to ease it into your digestive system.
3. If you walk past a frangipani tree at midnight and have a whiff of the scent of the flowers, do not turn back. The pontianak might follow you home.
4. If you have chicken pox, do not eat beef and any dark coloured sauces. I would think that we should stay away from chickens though.
5. Children should not eat chicken feet or else you would have uncontrollable tremors in your hands when you're older.
6. Never sleep with your legs folded with knees pointing upwards towards the ceiling as you are forming a table for the spirits to gather around. This gave me nightmares as a child.
7. If you're trying to get pregnant, refrain from drinking 'cooling' drinks such as water melon juice. It reduce the chances of pregnancy.
8. If you're pregnant and have a glow about you, it's a girl. If you're looking really tired all the time, you'll be having a boy.
9. If your child has two spots or more at the top of his head (point at which the hair parts), he's going to be a handful to care for.
10. If you have a fever, take a really cold shower.

I laugh about these beliefs and I can becasue my own parents and grandparents do have a sense of humour about some of them but it's certainly no fun if it creates conflicts within the family. What's your 'old wives' tales'?

Festival of lights

Happy Deepavali to all who celebrate today!

For our friends who are not familiar with the significance of today, Deepavali is one of the most important date of the Hindu calendar. It marks the triumph of light over darkness, and of good over evil a symbol for a new beginning. For Hindu devotees, this is a great time of rejoicing and renewal.

Stardust

Still loving my labradorites and finding it hard to tear away my gaze from the colours that it emits. The labradorite is a fascinating mineral to me and its charm may be overlooked if not viewed from the proper angle. I like it that it may look dull at first but under the right light, you'll see this colourful play of light called labradorescence. Just gorgeous.

Simone

Freshwater pearls with sterling silver handforged wires. Simple elegant everyday wear.

Glenda

Swarovski crystals with gold filled wires. A delicate looking pair. I've always loved the combination of blues and browns. In this case, it's crystals of blue and gold. Adds a little glitter to any outfit.
